A Rose By Any Other Super-Hero Name...

Whenever I discover a new comic or character that I really like (in this case, Noble Causes), it usually inspires me to create new characters.  Sadly, I usually end up making the exact same character that I just read.  But in coming up with new super-heroes, I always marvel (no pun intended) at how all the cool names have already been done.

Seriously, have you ever tried to make up a new super-hero?  Once you get the powers/look down, naming a character is the hardest part.  Because as much as I want to turn a blind eye, Superman and Wonder Woman are already taken.  Ok, ok...that's an extreme example.  But something like Jade or Star something has been done billions of times.  Every way shape and form of Fire has been done too.  And don't even get me started on anything ending in "girl" or "man".  Or "lass" or "lad" for that matter.

So I'm always impressed when creators today come up with something new, like Zephyr or Celeste (a play on celestial) from Noble Causes.  It's always cool to see new ideas in comics, because when something's been around for 70+ years, Lord knows we need new and exciting every once in a while.

I wonder if I made a really fast guy and called him Flash...
